The Cedar Retreat

The Vision

The vision behind The Cedar Retreat was to create a dedicated outdoor space centred around recovery, wellbeing and everyday health.

With sauna use becoming increasingly popular, we wanted to design something that gave people the opportunity to enjoy those benefits from the comfort of their own home, without relying on a gym, spa or wellness club.

The idea was to create more than just a sauna. We wanted to create a private retreat within the garden — somewhere to switch off, recover, reset and make wellbeing part of everyday life.

The Challenge

The challenge was to create a sauna that performed exactly as it should while still feeling completely at home within a garden environment.

It needed to be practical, durable and built for regular use, but also natural in appearance so that it complemented the surrounding outdoor space rather than feeling like an addition that had simply been placed there.

Material choice was also a key part of the design. Cedar was the natural choice, not only for its beautiful appearance and distinctive character, but also because of its suitability for sauna environments and the warm, calming atmosphere it creates.

Every detail had to balance performance, comfort, longevity and design.

The Finished Result

The finished Cedar Retreat is a project we’re incredibly proud of.

It combines natural materials, thoughtful design and a strong focus on wellbeing to create a private recovery space that can be enjoyed without ever leaving home.

The result is a sauna that feels like a natural extension of the garden while offering a completely different way to use and enjoy an outdoor space.

For us, The Cedar Retreat represents exactly what we set out to achieve — a beautifully designed space that not only looks special, but has the potential to become a meaningful part of someone’s health, recovery and daily routine.
